Streetware

(Series of earthernware tiles, 10x10cm average, 2016)

Streetware tiles were made from negative impressions of the pattered textures of manhole covers – highlighting the aesthetic qualities of something usually seen as purely functional. The varying sizes, shapes and materials of the manhole covers are standardised by taking 10x10cm square samples of their patterns.
